Speaking Of Courage

The chapter "Speaking of Courage" is a very pivotal time in the book. The chapter helped to audience reflect on the burdens of once being in war. It shows the difficulties of coping with that fact that you have to sit and watch one on your dear friend die and you cant do anything about it. Bowker had to witness a good friend of his, Kiowa, die in the most ridiculing way and at the expense that he couldn't even help him the way that he wanted to. From reading the chapter, it makes you ponder on how a person could possibly live with a such thing on their mind. Walking around lonely, with grief and guilt by their side.

It take courage itself, to fight in a war. But it takes even more courage to continue to live after war. I think this chapter shows the courage that Bowker has to continue to go on with all of these things on his mind about what happened during war. It takes courage for him to not have anyone to talk to this about and have people award you for things that you don't even want to be awarded for.

Vietnam War

The Vietnam War was on of the World's most memorable wars. There's always the chance that you might find a family member that was involved in this war, maybe even more. The war lasted from November 1, 1955 till April 30, 1975. This war started of between North Vietnam and South Vietnam.

The Vietnamese waged an anti-colonial war against France and received 2.6 billion in financial support from the United States of America . The French defeat at the Dien Bien Phu was followed by a peace conference in Geneva, in which Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam received their independence and Vietnam was temporarily divided between an anti-Communist South and a Communist North. In 1956, South Vietnam, with American backing, refused to hold the unification elections. By 1958, Communist-led guerrillas known as the Viet Cong had begun to battle the South Vietnamese government.

America thought its national interest was threatened strongly enough to fight in the Vietnam war. Americans feared that the Communist were taking over the world and must be stopped. The US government felt that if they helped South Vietnamese government resist the attacks from the North communist they would help stop the spread of communism.

After the defeat of the French by the Vietminh at Dien Bien Phu, President Eisenhower elaborated on the "domino theory." He stated "You have a row of dominoes set up. You knock over the first one, and what will happen to the last one is the certainty that it will go over very quickly." He believed that the countries of South East Asia were tied closely together and if one country fell for communism, the others would also fall for it, like dominoes.

The involvement of the US in the Vietnam War really damaged the United States overall and to most people it was a pointless war.

Memoir Blog

I picked "Death Lesson" by Mitchell W, from Oregon, age 14. One of the reasons I picked his memoir was because I was able to relate to it. I went through a similar experience with my Grandpa. When I used to live with him, we always had lots of quality time together. And then when I moved, I made sure I would go see him all the time, especially so we could eat together. When my grandfather died from heart failure, it was devastating. My Grandpa meant so much to me that I didn't know what I was going to do without him. So because his memoir was easily relate able, it stood out to me.
Another reason why i picked this memoir was because I liked how it transitioned from a happy story to a sad one. In the beginning of the story, It shows how Mitchell had fun times with his grandparents and how he spent a lot of time with them. This gave a reader sense of significance and devastation his grandpa's death was.
I also liked this memoir because it gave good imagery and vivid ideas. It made me feel like i was right there in the  Albany General Hospital when Mitchell's grandpa took his last breathes. Overall this was a good memoir and was a memory never forgotten.

Music Review: Beyonce 4

To be honest, i really don't like Beyonce as a whole. She's not the best singer to me, and as many would say, "She's beautiful" well i would like to disagree. Even from the beginning of Destiny Child's I didn't like her because the rest of her group wasn't shown and recognized as frequently as she was, giving her the lead-way to the fame she has now. But all of this is besides the point, i want to give a review on Beyonce's latest album, 4.

For a person who could care less about Beyonce, I surely LOVE this album. This album has a various amount of ballads that actually show some of Beyonce's singing abilities. The album also posses so many different types of songs: ones you can dance to, ones you can cry to, and ones that might make you want to do something else. LOL

Beyonce pretty much puts out an album every year and of course, majority loves it. But for me, this album presented Beyonce a little differently from the norm, and that's one of the main reason I like it.

I have a list of favorite songs from this album, and i would like to start with "1+1":
Before this song got played out by the radio and all of the world began tosing it, i was deeply in love with this song. It is such a beautiful love song that lovers all over the world can relate to. The lyrics of the song makes you want to have that love that she's talking bout throughout the song. one of my favorite lines from the song is "When my days look low, pull me in close, and dont let me go. Make love to me, so that when the worlds at war, that our love heals us"

Party"
Party is more than likely my most favorite song from this album. I love that she did this song with one of the greatest entertainers, Andre 3000. This song has a great beat that you can groove to. Does the song make since, NOPE.! But i still love it. :)

She also have other great songs on the album such as "Dance For You", "Love on Top", "Countdown", "Who Run The World" This album doesnt really have any bad songs.! WONDERFUL JOB BEYONCE :)

*Now back to me not liking her lbs*
